CALEDONIAN.
Paltridge and party, the company, tri? buters, are crushing a parcel of 8 loads of general dirt at Bull's mill. They have crushed 96 lbs of picked stone from which 95 ounces of amalgam were obtained. No. 2 level; On Friday last, after the < manager had driven 45 feet through; dead country he cut the No. 3 lode (same as worked by Old Golden Calf at No. 3 level) resting on the slide. The reef ii 18 inches thick and the first time qdart* was broken, gold was seen. Since then several pounds of nice looking picked stone hare been obtained. This lode runs South east and North west through the Otago Ground, and from its underlie the Zuranui Hill Company should get it above No. 4 level. The water is now 22 feet above the flatsheet of No. 4 level, and for the past four days has been riling at the rate of 20 inches per day.
