OHINEMURI.

(FBOM OVU OWN COBBEBPONDENI.)

Paeboa, 31st Marcb.

The monthly inspection parade of the No. 3 Thames Scottish Volunteers was held on Saturday. There was a very good muster, two-thirds of the members being present, most of them in uniform. Sergeant Collins notified thet those members intending to take part in the Hamilton expedition mvst give in their names next Saturday, so that arms, belts, &0., may be provided for them. The target plates have arrived, and. will shortly be placed in position. The company will have to wait for their arms until the Hauraki Engineers get their carbines. Mr J. Fhihips, jun., (who is an old Thames volunteer) has very kindly undertaken to go out to Waitekauri every Wednesday to drill the members living there.

Mr J. L. Byers, the tragedian, has arrived, and I hear that he proposes to give an entertainment in the Public Hall some day this week. There has been a great tangi over the remains of Karauria Puketapu, an old chief of the Ngatitamatera -tribe, who lived principally at Coroman'del, but who died at Te Komata. The corpse was brought up to the Ohinemuri Junction for the convenience of parties coming to the " uhunga." As usual, considerable quantities of flour, sugar, pork, beef, and potatoes have been withdrawn from the market.

The Eev. W. E. Mulgan has been transferred from Katikati to Onehunga, and will not therefore visit us any more. It is announced that H. C. Lawlor, Esq., lay-reader, will hold service on Easter Sunday. '
