MOANATAIRI.

A crushing of 2 loads of. dirt for Hickey and party lias been finished for the yield of 70z9 gold. The-mine manager's usual weekly report is as follows :—" Point Russel section: Driving at the 100-feet level is suspended for a few weeks, and the men have been cleaning out and repairing the winze sunk from the creek level. This is now completed and sinking resumed, but none of the reef has yet been broken. It is advisable to sink this winze before driving any further in level below, to ascertain whether we are on the right reef, or if it has taken a reverse underlie from the winze. Main tunnel has been driven 23 feet during past week. A large quantity of water is coming from the face, but otherwise there is no change. 218 level: JSTo. 9 reef in drive west is 3 feet thick, and a strong well defined lode. It has shown colours of gold and indications of further improvement, but the stuff taken from drive and stope ii low

grade. -80, level: In driving west No. 2 reef ia 2 feet thick. I have suspended this and started a cross-cut to intersect No. 3 reef, which the tributers have driven on at tunnel level. It is going down in floor 4 feet thick, and averages 2 ounces per ton. This portion of the mine has been but little prospected, and about 60 feet, driving will strike the reef above referred to at 80-foet level. The stopes throughout have been poor this fortnight, but are now showing an improvement. 350 tons quartz have boen crushed, yielding 1410z9 retorted gold. — Eobebt Comee."
