OLD GOLDEN CALF.
At this mine nothing fresh has occurred since my last report. The manager has about 20 tons on hand which will probably be crushed this week.
■:i l'o<]<X; -' MOANATAIiIJ W The following is a copy of toe mine manager Vweeklyreporjt to the directors: —" Point Eiissell section—Driving east from the winze Las been) suspended, and we have started to cross-cut north. 20 feet will now hay* to be jv driTen fo get under winze sunk from level above. It is now evident that the jlQOfeet level is not on the Point BusseH reef, but the cross-cut above referred to will intersect it. The reef mentioned in my report of 16th instant has crossed tunnel, *nd gone off into north side, but there are still stringers of quartz in the face. An inch water-pipe has been fixed in Point Russell rise, having a pressure of 280 feet, with a small jet at the bottom striking into a box, and thus conveying a splendid current of air up to the face of the tunnel, which can now be driven fto\ a fjg^pat distance. . 218-feet level.-—ln "driving west we have cut into south side, and picked up main part of No, 9 reef (we had previously been driving in a biiach). The quartz now met with looks"well and is fully 3 feet thick. There is no change in any other part of mine,' and our crushing is hardly showing up so well as last. 20 feet has been driven in turidel this week. The quartz from here is not payable, 40 tons having been crushed out not yet .finished* The quartz from Point JSussell and 210 feet level is now being treated, and in my next week's report ■ I will forward you the result of these : trials.— EoBBBT C/OMEB. /■(k.i;iJo;>T
