Thames Rowing Club.

The annual meeting of the Thames Eowing Clnb was held at the Governor Bowen Hotel last evening, about 20 members being present. The Captain of the Club, T. L. Murray, Esq., occupied chair, and the hon. secretary, Mr J. L. Whitford, having read the minutes of last annual meeting, Mr G. A. Buttle, one of the Committee, made a short verbal report of the circumstances attending the bringing out of the new boat. Mr Whitford then read the annual balance-sheet, which showed the receipts had been from subscriptions and donations £56 13s 6d, and after paying for the boat there was a cash balance of £3 6s 9d. There was also £10 15i subscriptions and donations promised, which had notyet been collected. The balance-sheet was adopted on the motion of Mr L. Melhose, seconded by Mr H. Goldsworthy. The election of officers for the ensuing year was then proceeded with, with the following result: —President, Colonel Fraser, R.M.; VicePresidents, His Worship the Major, and Mr E. T. Wildman; Treasurer, Mr T. Lawless ; Secretary, Mr J. L. Whitford ; Captain of the Club, Major Murray. Mr T. Gavin was proposed for the latter office, but declined the honor. The following gentlemen were then elected a committee of management, the officers being members ez officio:—Messrs Gavin, Savage, Symington, J. Goldsworthy, a^d L. Melhose. The question of purchasing practice boats, and also that of when the next subscription became due, waa left to the committee.—Mr Savage said there was an impression abroad that the new boat had been got for one crew alone, and no one else would be allowed to use it. Tbat prevented a good many becoming members of the Club. He wished it to be di*. tinctly stated through the newspapers that such was not the case.—The Chairman said that that was not the case. The rules would not permit it. However, when a crew had been selected to pull at a regatta, the Captain could reserve the boat for a short time while they were in training. Messrs Thomas, Wilson, J. Smith, and G. Brown were elected members of the Club, and totes of thanks to the secretary and officers, and also to the Chairman, were passed, and the meeting adjourned. „
