Thames HArbor Board.
'The usual fortnightly meeting of the Board was held last evening; at - the Council Chambers. Present—The Chair man, the Mayor, Messrs Brown, Read, Osborne, Ehrenfried, and McGowan. \ '■ : ' " minutes. -':.•;.; I The minutes of the last ordinary meeting were read and confirmed, as also were the minutes of the special meeting* ■- - :■.■<■: AtfDITOB.: :; ■.:■■• V-■ \ A letter was read from Wellington, stating that the Governor had appointed L. A. Durrieu, auditor of accounts of Thames Harbor Board., - . . j ■/■ - " ' .. ■ . bye-jUwV '.''',, : " ,:-?. : A letter was read from the New Flymouth Harbor Board, asking that a copy of the Board by-laws be forwarded to them. It was resolved to inform the the Board that by-laws are being prepared, and a copy will be forwardta as soon as compiled. — sj HAEGaEAVBS. j . A letter was read from Captain Hargreaves, of the dredge, asking that the Harbor Board meet him ia the matter of expense in the case Butler r. Hargreares, arising from damage done by him to the silt-retaining works, as in the case he had been fighting for the cause of the Harbor Board. Referred to Dredge Committee. : < . A letter was read from Captain Hargreaves enclosing an account for £3 10s for two loads of silt raised after his previous account had been rendered, and also another for wages in respect to punt. Referred to Dredge Committee. FOEESHOBE. The Secretary reported the result of the Foreshore claims in Court, and said that Hohepa Brown's and the other claims had been purchased by the unauthorised expenditure of £50. It was resolved that the action be confirmed. SALARIES AND EXPENSES. The Mayor asked for a return of the salaries and wages paid by the Board, and the Secretary supplied him with a list. He said he was going in for reducing expenses, and for that purpose he moved that the Chairman, Mr McGowan and the mover be a committee to report to r* special meeting on the matter. This was seconded by Mr Bhrenfried; and carried. This was all the business. Is it not strange that a man can be on fire, and yet at the same time very muoh put out?
