Wednesday. "A fine promising young man, named Michael O'Neill, between 17 and 19 years of age, a recent arrival by the immigrant ship City of Auckland, was drowned close to the Bluff while bathing on the beach. Complaining of, the heat, he went in about waist deep. There was an unusual surf rolling in, but his companion on shore' thdught O'N'eill ;in no danger. *He beckoned him to come ashore, but in a moment or two after O'Neill disappeared, suddenly. Efforts hare been made to recover the' body, but unsuccessful!j. • .'
