Dear Sir, —I had suffered severely and most acutely from Rheumatism for many years, brought on, I believe, from exposure to all weathers in the exercise of my calling. For years I could not sleep at night, and was unable to lie except in one position. Day and night I was lull of excruciating pains, scarcely able to move about at all, and as a natural sequence my general health was also materially injured. I believe I suffered the pangs of Rheumatism and its attendant evils in every shape and form, and my life was a burden to me. I tried every remedy I could hear Of, but without obtaining any relief whatever. JTTNDER the distinguished patronage of U His Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affaire, dated 14th March, 1878. I We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in. i the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract, j So far as the committing of imposition against the, public in such a case is concerned the consequences would not be serious; but as the qualities of both of the products are j in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the attention of the public to the following facts:— I The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, &c, the curative power of our extract on tho named diseases being unquestioDably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the disease. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; our extracts consists of jt.be evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price.being twentyfour shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. t§p"No other essence is genuine except that in the vials bearing on the labels our signature and trade mark.
