Hawke's Say Races. The inaugural race meeting of *He Hawke's Bay Kacng Club was held yesterday at Pakowai. Tlree thousand peirona.were preesut.
Hubdle Race, 100 egvs, 2f miles, over seven hurdles. Grey Momus, 1; Tawe*a, 2; Wanganui, 3. Eight ran. ■; Skysail bolted, and Wairarapa fell after jamping the third hurdle. Tamafea fan at the last hurdle.
The Hack Hotidle Bace was won by Laheen. There were seven entries', but eight hones started. The fact was that oie competitor was unaware he had to enter his horse, and he came in first, but the rare could not be awarded to him, and was given to the second ho.se,

Inaugubation Stakes of 40sovs— Never Miss, 1; West End, 2; Moanatairi, 3. This race was one by three lengths.
Hawke's Bay Citp of 250sovs, and a sweep of ssovs added for sorters, two milej—Sinking Fund, 1; Little Wonder, 2; Lara, 3. Ten started. Pinfire, Bribery, Laei.'es, Grey Momus, Zaritippe, and several others were scratched. Sinking Fund made all the runring, and won by ten lengths. A protest was lodged against Sinking Fund by Mr Farmer, owner of Lady Elizabeth, on the ground that Sinking Fund was not accepted for at the proper time. The matter will be considered.
Maiden Plate. —Kaokaoroa, 1; Pohionra, 2; Day and MarUn, 3. Won by two len^tjs.
District Plate. —'Lalla Rookh, 1; Hailstorm, 2; West End, 3. Camellia bolted wlnn well forward.
Consolation Handicap.—Little Wonder, 1; Skysail, 2 ; Merlin, 3. This raca was run in the dark, it being a quarter t) seven when it was finished.
