Tenders for the Victorian loan amount to £8,500,000. The full amount required was offered at £98 10s, and one-third of it at £98 10s 6d. The marriage of the Duke of Connaught was celebrated today, the Queen being present. In the House of Commons to-day the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, ia replying to a question, said that a Manchester firm had dispatched ammunition to Mozambique, but that the British Government would take steps to prevent same reaching the Zulus.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, in reply to another question, said the British Government was diaposed to recommend to the Sultan an Englishman to administer the finances of Turkey, if one was asked for. London, March 14. A despatch of the Marquis of Salisbury, dated the 26th of January, has been published. It states that the action of Russian officials in Bulgaria and Bou- ! melia has been contrary to the Treaty of Berlin, and has aggrarated the difficulties of the present situation. The despatch urges the immediate separation of Bulgaria and Eoumelia. London, March 13. The bank rate is 2\ per centum, and the bank reserve £19,312,500, the proportion of reserve to liabilities being £1 per centum. Pabis, March 13. The Chamber of Deputies have rejected a resolution for the impeachment of the Broglie-Bochbouet Cabinet by a large majority. The Government intimated they would resign if the motion was adopted. London, March 12. The Turks in Bulgaria hare rebelled against the new administration. Tbe Turks in Eoumelia, being dissatisfied with the new constitution hare risen in rebellion. Adelaide, March 13. f The John Elder brings Cape papers to the 22nd February. The disaster at the head camp at Soandalmana wai caused through the absence of caralry and mismanagement of the forces. There were 800 Europeans present, and they had plenty of ammunition and artillery, and should hare entrenched. 20,000 Zulus attacked the camp. The natires all over the country are now agitated by the success gained. It will be necessary to re-establish white supremacy. The interest of the colony are jeopardised^
