OUR MINES.
MOANATAIBI.
The manager's weekly report is as follows :—Point Eussell section.—Good progress is being made in the drive east from winze. The reef here is 2% feet thick ; a strong well-defined lode, containing mineral, which has every indication for gold. The quartz will be tested as soon as a sufficient quantity is broken out. Main tunnel has been extended 20 feet during past week. A reef has been discovered fully two feet thick, and letting out a large quantity of water. The stone has a promising appearance, being heavily charged with iron pyrites, and there are stringers of quartz four feet thick in addition to the reef referred to. From its position and state I think it is the Point iiussell lode. 218-feet level.—ln driving west No. 9 reef has been-picked up. It is now two feet below roof, and as we continue driving the slide will disappear, and the reef make down. 80-feet level.— No. 2 reef west contains payable stuff and is two feet thick. The stopes throughout have improved, and the general crushing is showing up for a payable return.—l am, &c, Bobebt Comeb."
