The Results of the Champion Matches.
Rifle Camp (Nelson), Saturday. The Champion Matches are over, the Rifle Champion is W. Ballinger, of Wellington, with a score of 191 ; second highest, Hutchinson, of Otago, with 190 points ; third highest, Smith, of Otago, with 189 points. The Carbine Champion is Gordon; the, second highest Mapp, of Christchurch. He and Gordon, of the Thames, tied for the Champion Belt with 192 points each. To decide the tie they had to fire fire shots each at the long range, Gordon making 16, Mapp 13. Many of the crack shots fell off at the last range; it is presumed to be owing to the change of light as the sun went round. Okey and Smith tied for 3rd place for the Bifle Belt; firing off with five shots each they both tied with 10 each; they then fired five shots again, Smith winning with 18, Okey 13 points.
