The Australian Cup Race.—A

Jockey Killed. '; Melboubnb, March 6. For the races the weather was fair. The Governor was present.

Hurdle Eace—Jack Tar, 1; Welshman, 2 ; Larrikin, 3. Eleven started. Won easily. - I '.

Boyd, a jockey, was killed by being thrown in the hurdle race.

Corinthian Cup—Hotspur, 1; Cowarre, 2; Carlisle, 3. Won by a neck. Sires' Produce Stakes—Won easily by South Hamilton.

Australian Cup — Twelve started. Savanaka, 1; Bosworth, 2; Swiveller, 3. This was a fine race. Time: 4mins. 4secs.

Grand Stand Stakes—^Monarque won by.half a head from Le Loup. Time, 3min 30sec. Seven ran. This day. "Mr Berry telegraphs that he has decided to offer a three million loan ad 98 including interest. He adds that the Eight Hon. Hugh Childers, formerly first Lord of the Admirality will probably accept the post of Agent-General for Victoria in London without salary.
