Water Supply Committee.
The usual monthly meeting of the Committee was held at the Council Chambers last evening. Present—The Mayor (in the chair), Messrs Price, Speight, and Thdrburn. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, as also were the minutes of the specia" leeting. BEBEBYOIB BOADi" A letter was read from the Parawai Highway Board, requesting that the Committee contribute to the post of the Reservoir road, the wear and tear on which was in a great measure caused by the carriage of material for the Commit* tee. It was decided to deal with the matter when the Committee are in funds. THE FINANCIAL JOSITION. A letter was from the Bank of New Zealand stating that after the payment of the local bodies'' guarantee, the Water Supply account at the bank could n»t be operated on except against monies paid in. •
The Secretary stated that Mr McCaul had summoned the Committee.
After some discussion on the impeouniosity of the Committee, ■ r-J* Mr Speight moved that a special meet* ing of the Committee be called for Friday next to consider a resolution proposing that the property of the Committee be leased to the Thames Borough Council for a term of years upon suc\ terms ai may be agreed upon; failing the passage of the foregoing to take steps for providing for Che liquidation of the liabilities of the Committee. ■ ..,■ "■, -, v ,'Ji\ . Mr Price seconded. " Mr Thorburn mored an amendment to the effect that the words " a local body " be substituted for the words "Thames Borough Council." ' - ;st Ti This failed to find a seconder, And the motion was carried. APPLICATION FOB WATBB. It was decided to postpone consideration of Mr Pepper's application for water. IBIBHTOWJST. The' Town Cock reported:—"l hare the honor to report that it will take 1500 feet, at a cost of £65, io lay on water to the applicants. Twelre householders will undertake to pay for the supply of water; eight of the houses are of three rooms each, and four of four rooms. All the applicants will take in the water; bat refuse to contribute to the cost of laying the same to their residences.". The report was received. This was all the business.
