CONSTANCY WITH A VENGEANCE.
On yesterday morning's for Virginia was a lady named Mrs Harriet Hudson, with^her^two children,, one a girl and the other a boy,, aged respectively 15 and ,17 years. Five years ago ; Mrs Hudson was deserted by her, i husband,; Henry T. Hudson, in St. Louis, Missouri, and she has ever since beefl travelling to find his whereabouts. He was a merchant in tbat city at one period and up to within' a week ibr two before he deserted his family. When be left home he toot every available bit 1-of property with him leaving his wife and little; ones without sufficient means to pay fo* one. month's rent for their home. Whether prompted by devotion for her husband, or whether impelled by another motive, Mrs Hudson, has been on the road ever since,; in; qtiest ;of i .heradelectable spouse. Since his departure the lady inherited a considerable sum of money from a deceased, which enables her to travel with her children whenever she gets the 'slightest clue of him. She says that in the past five years' she has not been off a steamboat, stage coach or railroad train sis months all told. She now comes from San Francisco, where she has been sojourning off and on for two months, hearing that her husband is working in one of the Comstock mines. She is determined to be at the several mining offices on ;pay-day to see if she cannot ferret Hudson out. In all probability Mrs Hudson will remain on the Comstock for two or three months, and if her husband is in that vicinity her energy will doubtless be rewarded in delecting the wretch; and yet should she find him, it is 1 doubtful whether she will be sufficiently compensated for her troubled Mrs Hudson is about 40 years of age, but does not look more than 30 years old; she has a dignified and distinguished exterior, and in conversation evidences refinement and culture. Her determination is to travel in search of her husband so long as she lives, or at least so long as her money; lasts. If, this is not rare constancy, it is hard to tell what is.—S.F. Chronicle.
