Stdnet, February 26. j The brig Baymond which left Newcastle on the 24th ultimo for IS ew Zealand, coal-laden, during a heavy gale on the night of the 15th had her sails blown from the bolt-ropes, and at daylight the following morning the hatch was store in and all hands were constantly employed at the pumps. Two anchors and a quantity of cable were let go to lighten the ship forward, but, owing to the heavy sea running, the decks were constantly full of water, which rapidly gained on the pumps. Cape Hawke was sighted on the 17th; and the crew being greatly exhausted by continuous exertions at the pumps, and the vessel being quite unmanageable and gradually settling down, she was beached three miles north of the Heads. In landing one boat was capsized and three of the crew drowned—the first mate, J. C. Lemoignan, and seamen James Ferguson and John Sawyers. The body of one of the seamen was recovered aud buried on the beach.

No settlement has yet been arrived at regarding the grievances at Lambton colliery. Thomas Anthony has been found with his brains blown out. He had a large sum of money on his person. Adelaide, February 26. Some military men here are starting for the Zulu war. '
