Thames Scottish Battalion.

No. 1 Company fired for prizes on Saturday at the Government range; five shots each at 200, 400, 500 and 600 yards. The weather was against fine shooting, yet some good scores were made. The prize winners were:— McLean 63 McLeod 59 Weir 58 Downie 58 No. 2 Company concluded at the same time the second match for a rowing boat. Vol. White was the winner with 100 points. The ranges each match were 200, 400 and 500 yards; five shots. White made 51 in the first match and 49 on Saturday, thus making a total of ten points over centres. Vol. Trenwith made the highest score on Saturday, 51, but was lower than White in the first match. No. 2 is beginning to show up in shooting, and as there are a large number of prizes to be shot for during next three months more of the young shots are likely to come to the front. We believe both companies are arranging for recruit prizes to be fired for on Saturday week. No. 3 Scottish is being drilled into a good company by Sergeant Collins, and the members are likely to be able to turn out in uniform and with arms and accoutrements very shortly.
