The Eoyal Commission appointed to enquire into matters relating to the electoral roll of the Bay of Islands will commence its sittings at Eussell on the 6th of March. Gray, who reported the inquiry last session before the Select Committee on Native affairs, leaves for
the North on Monday, to produce his shorthand notes of the evidence before the Commissioner. He will also act as official shorthand writer to the Commis* sioner. Certain complaints having been made t.n til a anirn-Hnvn^L I' _ iL. 1.
Certain complaints having been made to the Government respecting the acceptance of tenders amounting to about £3000 for repairs and furniture at Government House and Government Buildings, a commission will be appointed to take evidence and report on the circumstances.
Mr John Keddell, a very old settler in this Province, was found- dead on his verandah about fi.ve«this morning. Supposed cause, a fit of apoplexy.

Mr W. Lyon, who arrived at Wellington in 1840, died last night, aged seventythree yeara.
