"Wednesday.' The native mat made by Manuhiri's orders for Major Mair was brought down today and presented to him. It is remarkably handsome. This kind of work is now almost unknown amongst the Kingites. The present is very significant as to the estimation in which Major Mair is held by the natives. They could not hare paid him a higher compliament.
