OLD GOLDEN CALF.
_, Yesterday the manager broke down the lode stripped at: No. 3 level afad obtained some picked stone. The gold it freely disseminated through the lode which it now about two feqt thick and, and when it goes to the mill I hare no doubt but that it will crush well. Owing to the color of the stone^it it diflGusult tp dispernj.tbe { precious metal in it. About 12 feet has been driven on the lode,«and, at present there is strong water issuing from the face and back of the drive, so that it is probable the water in the winze from No. >■% level has: beenrtapned, as^ d^e v ,. now nearly in a line With the winze. The lode in the upper pprtion of the drive is split but makes into a tolid body of stone at; the bottom of the .drive, and at the joint good gold is showing. It is looking better Jjn)!-thfi,}i?ot^n jthfui, jfc T hag dojne since driving commenced /so that the prospects of good gold being obtained below the prjisen^ l^e^a^-very fair. The lode has been driven on in Not 2 level, and yielded «old» and,ti^e precious metal was also followed down in the wince. In the upper level the reef ; was, aboi^t the same size as in No. 3. I may mention that owing to the water above referred to, . the air in the face is very good at present, but even should* the air bewme light* a*, there are air pipes laid in, work could be kept going. .-rT^i ofvfj^a^^ t?f.n, ;
