AUCKLAND.
This day.
The Taupo struck on a rock at the entrance of Tauranga. Harbor, at the beacon. The engine room is full of water. The passengers and mails were safely landed, and the cargo is being discharged. The steamer Katikati went to the res-
cue. '
The point where she is wrecked is dangerous.
1 p.m.
The place where the Taupo grounded at Tauranga is Stony Point. The ohannel here, although the deepest, is not more than half a chain wide, with a sharp turn and strong tide liable to set a vessel ashore before the helm takes effect.
