Wellington (Race Course), This day. The races are more largely attended than any previous year. The trains were crowded with passengers. The ground is very dry and hard. Weather, windy; gloomy overhead. About two thousand people on the ground before noon. Maiden Bace—Merlin first, King Quail second, Undine third. Time— 2mins. ol^secs. Hubble Kace—Agent first, Harkavray second, Te Whetu third. 410 p.m. The Wellington Gold Cup—Maritana first, Lara second, Longlands third. A grand race.
