Medical PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT.. I~TNDER the distinguished patronage of \J Hia Majesty the King of Italy, at Kome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned *jhe consequences would not be serious; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another^ we consider it our duty to direct the attention of the public ■ to the following facts t— I The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of ralue as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing! blistering effect upon the sljin; '?. t ] Any blistering brought on by the applica* tion of a medicament must increase iaflamr mation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds^colds, bronchitis, diphtheria; croup, Bprains, &c, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unques tiqcably proved by former publications-in this paper. An application of the oil inßtead . of pur extract must impair the disease. j . The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact, that tho oil is a resinous product, equivalent to. common turpentine, its market value being'about three shillings one pound; weight; our extracts consists of the eTapora-; ting particles of tbegum leaves, spothingaad! healing in its' effects^ its price being twentyfour shillings for one pound, weight.
