Friday.
John Shoreman, lately living at Mokau, was drowned yesterday in the Waikatane! Eiver. Deceased, with his wife, attempted: to cross on horseback early in the day, but were warned back by the natives. At noon they tried again, when a foalsprang upon the mare Shoreman was riding, striking him on the shoulder. He could not swim. His body was afterwards found. '
