NAPIEE.

Monday. The driver and passengers by the mail coach between Napier and Tauranga had a marvellous escape on Wednesday last, when the coach was between Titokura and Mohaka, and encountered a heavy thunderstorm, and lightning struck the carrage pole, splitting it to atoms. No other damage was done. The coach was full of passengers at the time of the accident. The driver proceeded on horseback to Tarawera, where he got another coach, and returned and picked up passengers, who were safely landed at Taupo.

The coach from Kopua to Wellington and Wanganui upset this morning. Ho damage done, except that the passengers received a goood shaking.
