GoTernor Eobinson is now on a visit to Victoria at his son-in-law's in the Western District. The match between Lord Harris' team and the Australian eleven at one time seemed very doubtful if a defeat in one innings would be saved. There was an unpleasant feeling against the Englishmen during the match. Conway being refused admittance without a ticket, he forced his way in. The result ! is a charge of assault will be heard at the police court. The police hare arrested a number of persons under the Outlawry Act, for aiding and abetting the Kellys, who hate been remanded for a week.

Robertson Bros.' sale at Colac went off very badly this year, and only realised a total of £5482. The highest price paid for stud bulls was 275 guineas; for short horn stud cows, £350 guineas. C. Simpson, Hew Zealand, was the principal purchaser. In a collision near Babelisland, between the schooner St. Kilda, from New Zealand, and the barque Seagull bound for Adelaide with coal, one seaman from the latter was drowned while attempting to jump from one vessel to the other. The captain of the barque was also much injured by the falling gear. The schooner was only slightly damaged about the cut water. Bain is much wanted. Wheat is lower, owing largely to deli* veries from the country. In the match between the Canterbury Cricketers and Melbourne, all the Canterbury bowlers—Lee, Frith, and otherswere tried without avail.
