The opening works at the bottom level are making good progress, the uoHth cross-cut having been driven about 60 feet. The country, however, is much disturbed. The winze in Point Russell section is now down over 100 feet, and the manager expects to break through to the rise from the tunnel in another thirty feet or so. The lode in :cth* bottom of the winze is .about l£ feet thick, but is split up, though some p rtions of it look well for gold, good mineral, indications being perceptible in the stone.
