AUCKLAND.
This day. Bridget Connelly, a married woman living at Newton, committed suicide yesterday by poison. Deceased had been reclaimed from the horrible habit of drink for the past two yearsto be temperate. She commenced to drink again on Christmas. She returned; home on Monday drunk. The following morning she asked her husband for money to obtain drink. He refused to give it. She then said she.would take a bitter cup during the day,, and shortly afterwards she tobk a bottle off the shelf containing :Wfe?^. Jlisii^ndi:: the girls who^ere present >at the time* 'were taken tynfurprise. The raih t act was done before it could be prevented. The only words\ uttered before being removed to the Hospital wereMiDamn the drink." The woman died a few hourg after admittance to the Hospital. When sober the' woman was an industrious and kind hearted person. An inquest" will be held to day. *
