Thb ordinary meeting cf the Borough Council will be held this evening, when, we presume, the Mayor will be installed. We hope those councillors who were unavoidably absent yesterday will give expression to their opinions on the conduct of that councillor who yesterday refused to attend the annual meeting when informed that it must lapse if he did not attend. Councillors must guard with a jealous eye the dignity of the Mayoral office, and any attempt to lower that dignity emanating from a councillor is more to be deprecated than if it came from an outsider. The Councillors cannot be blamed !f the rate-
payers sometimes return a person who is entirely unfit for the position ; but in the Council they have the power of making anyone who does not act up to his declaration feel what it is to be under the resent* ment of honorable men.
