FORTHCOMING LECTURES ON NEW ZEALAND.
; Mr Henry A. Severn, who has achieved a great reputation as % scientific lecturer in New Zealand'and Australia, has just arrived in -London. ' Arrangements have already been made for a course of lectures in the metropolis and some of the chiet towns in. England and Scotland. The reception he met with in all parts of the Colonies, and the extraordinary success of the lectures, cannot fail to be most gratifying to bis relations and friends in England. Mr Severn has lost no time in exhibiting to his friends some of the beautiful and startling views which he photographed in New Zealand. He shows, these to great .advantage by means of his scientific lantern. It is no exaggeration to say that Mr Severn has accomplished during the past two years what has never been accomplished before. Three hundred, and sixty lectures have been delivered by him in all parts of the Colonies, to about ,300.000 people, including 33,000 teachers and scholars. He has moved about with six and eight cwt, and sometimes a ton of valuable apparatus. As there is a growing demand for more technical education in the Mother Country, Mr Severn's lectures are likely to prove very popular. We are glad to hear that it is his intention after a few years to return to New Zealand, and he ma/rest assured that he will meet with a hearty welcome. -
