That all the towns and dig. tricts.in New Zealand, be heartily welcome to co-operate with Wellington in the case. -. , It is said the General Government will allow their officers from Christmas Day to the following' Monday morning as a holiday. i . By to-day's mail His Excellency the Governor was advised that Sir George Bowen would, leave' Melbourne for Mauritiusby the February mail 'steamer, and he received instructions to be in Melbourne as soon.after as possible to replace him, which will probably be the end of February,not Januaryas was previously thought. 1" '
