PORTIA CLAIM (UNA HILL).
Moorcraft and McKeniie, the proprietors of this claim, have just finished a crushing at Bull's battery for the splendid yield of 466zs 6dwts of gold, to which may be added a parcel of 15ozs obtained from a few pounds of picked stuff put through a week ago, making in all a total of 61ozs 6dwts from 14 loads of quarts, being 4§ozs to the load. The reef from which this crushing was taken is five feet £ in thickness, with one hundred and fifty feet of backs from the present, level, and as eighty feet more backs can be obtained from the Una low.level, where the reef has been cut, the shareholders may safely reckon on a few 1 years profitable employment. This claim was favorably known in the early days of the Goldfield as the Germans', and created no small sensation in mining circles, as did the adjoining claims—the once famed Pride of £araka and Loyalty; but during the last few years it seems to have beea<: wholly neglected.
