Messrs Kilgour, Brodie, Deetle, Graham, Brown and Speight waited on Mr Macandrew this morning at the Government Buildings, re the Thames railway. Sir George Grey introduced the deputation. After some conversation,' Mr Maoandrew said he would begin the railway . from the Grahamstown and Hamilton ends, and that he desired to expend the money voted before the end iqf the financial year. Mr Brodie said lifthoped the line would be started at once. There were no engineering difficulties in the way, and'there w>a nothing to prevent Sir George Grey tr,'ning the first sod on Saturday, - the 21st instant, when he visited the Thames. He (Mr Brodie) considered Sir George Grey was entitled io the honor. The deputation are- to aivange matters on their. return to the Thames, and to. wire to Sir, George Grey at Wangarei, who willl state if he can do so. Mr Macandrew will visit the Thames with Sir George Grey. He is desirous of seeing the Big Fump and gMdfield. Sir George Grey will address the electors on the 21st.
