A deputation consisting of Messrs Brodie, Brown, Deeble, the Mayor, Speight, and" Graham; waited on the Minister for Public Works re Thames railway. Mr Macandrew said the railway would be begun at both ends, and the £LJ,OC'J, voted be expended during the year.
The first sod will probably be turned nezt week during Sir George Grey's visit, which takes place to-morrow week.
A deputation re the continuation of the drive from the Piako to, the * Pumping Association takes place to-morrow.
