Davies, Esq.—Dear Sir,— Self and Bagnall met Works Committee of the Auckland tfarbor Board this afternoon. They will let us have the dredge for two months or more on the following conditions:—lst: That we pay for the use of the same £10 pr month. 2nd. That we insure her in the sum of £5000, which they will do for themselves @ 1 per cent. 3rd. That we employ their men to work the dredge and punts, three of them to accompany the dredge and three the punts. 4th. That Thames Harbor Board return her in the like good order and condition as she is in now. For any further extension of time insurance can be done at one-half per cent. As they require answer in two or three days, I think it would be advisable for you to call a special meeting of Harbor Board, and decide at once.—l am, dear sir, yours obediently, Jas. M. Mennie. —Wm. Davies, Esq., Chairman Thames Harbor Board,"

It was resolved, on the motion of the Mayor, to telegraph to Mr Mennie for information concerning the insurance, working capacity of the dredge, consumption of coal, &c.
