COUNTY COUNCIL.

The report of the Board of Works was read at follows:—Tapo, Road.—This road, though in a much improved condition, still requires additional expenditure in labor to make it perfectly passable. The sum of | £150 is still available ont of the grant in aid of roads in native districts, and native labor can be resumed' when'their crops are planted. Tararu.—The. roads, and tracks are in very fair condition, and one man only is engaged thereon., Moanatairi Creek.—Two men are employed oh the road up this creek. Moanatairi Tram* way:—This tramway is maintained by the lessees in satisfactory repaii. ..The complaint preferred by Mr.Garvey.was rep. resented to them, and their explanatory endorsement will be found in the letters attached. Waiotahi Road.—Seven men are still engaged upon this road, which is now extensively used- for traffic.' Collarbone Creek road.—The road is in excellent condition, and is of great service to the residents and miners in that.neighboorhood. Karaka road/—During 'the month various 'landslips have been removed and repairs effected. The following was the report of thi* committee:—" Your committee hare the honor to report that at their last meeting held on the 4th inst. r it was resolved to recommend that tenders should be called for the extension and completion of the water race, in accordance with plan* adopted and approved by the Government* and that the Engineer should receiv*.instructions to proceed with this work without delay. The Waio-Karaka to. , Waiotahi tunnel contract (race extension)]? has been accepted by Mr Trainor, and th*' work is making satisfactory progress. The undertaking is a part of the plan sanctioned by the Government, and iti execution is placed under the ; admtnistra* tion of the Council.—A. Bhodib, Chairman."
