[/, The contractorsi drivingUhe crosscut at!Nb.'2=level to intersect No. 6 reef ire now making good headway. The drive is in 120 feet, arid as there is good countrygon the face and a probability of' it continuing so until the lode is cut, they should finish their contract in two or tbree weeks. The manager estimates that the lode is still about 80 feet from the face of tbe drive. The only other work now in progress is the winze on the No. 6 lode being put down from the No. 1 level to connect with the cross cut. The winze is now down 50, feet and will be completed shortly. It is being put down between two' sections of the lode, but no quartz has been broken since the commencement. * The stone is heavily mineralised* and looks well for gold. All, or nearly all, of the tributes will M crushing before Christmas. Davis and parLy have been getting some good stone lately.
