THE Evening Star. PUBLISHED DAILY AT FOUR O'CLOCK P.M. Resurrexi.` MONDAY, DECEMBER 2, 1878.

The question of obtaining feeders for increasing the Domestic Water Supply, mooted some time ago and laid before Sir George Grey, has lately been resuscitated; and as put before Mr Oliver Wakefield, Under Secretary for Goldfields, it does not seem to be regarded with much favor by the County. The streams proposed to be taken by the Domestic Water Supply Corporation, are all within the Cotfnty, and included in the proclamation issued under the Immigra, tion and Public Works Act reserving them as feeders for the County Bace. The County offered objection to these streams being taken unless with their consent, and it could not be done without that or a revocation of the Proclamation. It has been suggested, and we believe if application were made the County would approve, that the Domestic Water Supply Corporation build another reservoir, into which the supply from the County Head Eace could be diverted once a week—on Sundays. The day's supply amounts to about twelve million gallons. This would be a reserve equal to nearly two million gallons a day, sufficient for baths, washhouses and all other purposes required within the Borough for years to come. It would far exceed all that could be gathered from the streams proposed to be taken from the County, and, if properly stored, could be always available on a pinch, especially during the four months when the capacity of the Domestic Supply reservoir is barely equal to requirements. We commend the suggestion to the Water Supply Committee.
