EXPLANATION.
(To the Editor of the Boning Star.) Sib,—ln your issue of yesterday's date reference is made to a conferenceBorough Council and the School Committees—and the public are informed that representatives of all these school com; mittees were present •• except Parawai. In justice to myself as well as to all the members of the Parawai district school 1 desire to explain why we were not in attendance. At the time appointed I was at the Borough Council and waited tor over a quarter of an hour after the time, mnd finding that only Messrs Dean and Speight were in attendance,l asked for an adjournment until the fifth proximo. Ihis was agreed to, and Mr Dean adjourned the meeting accordingly. I then informed some gentlemen interested in the proceedings, but some time after, haying occasion to pass the Council Chambers, I was astonished to find the conference being held. I then went in and informed the meeting: of, the adjournment and declined to take part.—l am, &c., v Hewby Veenon. Parawai, 30fch November, 1878.
