A meeting of the Borough Council and the members of the School Committees for the purpose of considering provisions, of the High School Act with a view of bringing them into force, was held last night. There were present—Coun- j cillors Speight, McGowan, Wilson, Mennie, and representatives of all school committees except Farawai. After considerable discussion it was decided to request Government to nominate the members of the Thames High School Board. We are requested to state that the i Rev. Mr Nixon will not preach at Primitive Methodist Church on Sunday having been unexpectedly called to Auckland for a day or two. ' We learn that Mr Oliver Wakefield Under Secretary of Goldfields is'to be waited on with a view to obtaining a grant from the £5000 voted for deep sinking, to assist in the construction of the southern drive from the Big Pump.
