THE Evening Star. PUBLISHED DAILY AT FOUR O'CLOCK P.M. Resurrexi. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 1878.
The polling for the Mayoralty had an unexpected termination at twenty-five minutes past five yesterday, and instead of the result being made known somewhere about seven o'clock, candidates, committee men and voters have to resume the agony at twenty-five minutes past five this evening. When the Beturning Officer declared the poll adjourned last night, there was quite a press oi voters about the doors, most of whom were for McCullough, and the closing of the doors was a disappointment to his supporters, who were confident of the result, even making every allowance for defections. The reopening of the campaign this evening will probably bring many voters to the poll who could not have recorded their votes had the poll finally closed last night. We have every confidence in the final result, but we would again urge the clams of Mr McCullough, and ask burgesses who have yet to exercise the privilege of voting to do so in his favor.
