: : This day. The state of the poll at the Mayoral election was made known at noon to-day. The reason the poll was; not made public until next day was in consequence of the rowdiness of. the public on the last two occasions of the declaration overnight. The numbers polled were —Ick, 601; present Mayor (Thompson), 343. (-■■'.-.■■.■ ,'■'■.. i •;: Wednesday.
There was a good deal of excitement in.town to-day over the Maydral election, th c candidates being the present Mayor and Councillor Ick. The poll will not be declared till to-morrow, but it is said that Cbcic^'br Ick- has a large majority. ' At a meeting of the newly-elected County Council to-day, the Hon. John Hall was reelec*ed , Chairman-; 1, for the
