The Gum _Leaf Cure. •;; '"■ EUCALYPTI ESSENCES „' ! LET the' Public take 'notice of a' few fadtsput forward for their ififormation in ttiis intimation. They may be worth their study, and repay perusal .in enlightening them upon a subject of practical utility. ) < THE HISTOfcY 5 OF THE ESSENCES DjscoyEßY. . : The Australian anti-fever'free—that is the blue.gum, or, eucalyptus,^kibirtus— has now spread its fame' tiirou'gh'out the world, but there are many who do not properly estimate its splendid qualities. It has been estimated fcnat the Australian blue gums, which stud the face of the colony, contain about fijre hundred million "of ■ pure volatile oil, that is the mortal foe of fever and ague. Every da^ in the year the forests of thecolenyaire giving out and exhaling, in the form of vapor, an aromatic iragrance to our breezes, an di a' health-givipg essence, to puaj people. (This fajct is now recegnised by all the scientists in the world. ..,!, „ „,.j / f> , ..... , ,' ! ' ITS CLAIM AS A CUEATIVB. 1 It has now become the fashion with the inventors or discoverers of remedial agents to claim something little short of infallibility ,and universality o£ cure for, their respeotiVe agents'. Messrs Sander and Sens' bid nothing of. the sort. They have confidence .that'their essence possesses many virtues; but the full' extent of these they do not know ye,t. They 1 are now collecting data, and they are mdst careful and Bearching.in performing this. It is quite sure then, that their eucalypti essence can fairly > assert itself to be a" grand panacea for many of the ills that flesh it heir to. :■ • ■ „ ,{.. „-. :< .; . t ; In Scarlet, Typhoid, or any ca*e of Fetpr nothing will protect better against:contagion than'a few drops of the essence poured in the palm, of the hand, and rubbed in, in-order ;to liberate the vapors, or spriakled over the clothes. The perfume will be noticed forj a great length of time. j ■ Inwardly used, take three or four drops in half a tumbler of. water. The essence effects a moat surprising'change of the whole con*• stitution, correcting indigestion, and creating a healthy appetite. . . For' Children Attending. SaheoU, the same mode may be adopted. '" ' .; In Case* of Sickness, a few drops put into a,saucer, and put into the room will, being 1 ati 1 etheric 1 essence!, evaporate,' and fill 1 the room with the purifying vapor. ' j Are you obliged to Travel 1 A' few drops occasionally rubbed on the body, will protect against any contagion you may be exposed to, in coming direct with sick persons, or in sleeping in .the, same, rqoaa with,, or. in beds occupied previously by sick persons '. ', AlL.Sotelkeepers will do well to sprinkle from time to time in drawers, where Unenj is usually kept,' a few, drops of the pure essential essence. It produces no spots'whatever, > as every partiole of it evaporates, apd|nothing remains. ' I , in short, where a disinfectant is needed, the 'pure essential' eciialypti essence ought to be the one you have recourse to, and no family ought to be without it. ' "' ; " For all Wounds,' Cuts, Burns^ Scalding*-, Ulcers, and' Cancerous Wounds, a piece of linen wrapped round the suffering part, and moistened with a few drops of the eucalypti essence, will stop all pain, and effect a speedy oure. In Case of Colds moisten the nostrils with a few drops and inhale the vapour, and you will feel the immediate relief, and entire rid* dance of the heat. ' • : • In. all cases ; where the Lungs may he Affected, the above-mentioned process,-con-tinually repeated, will be the best that can be advised.
