WANTED.
A pastor for Skinflint church. He must posses all the Christian graces, and "a few worldly ones besides. He must have such tact and suppleness of disposition as will enable him to side with all parties in the church, on all points, without giving offence to any. He should possess a will of his own, but always agree with the session and trustees. He must be socially inclined and of dignified manners; affable to. all; neither running after the rich nor neglecting the poor. He must be learned and practical, conservative, liberal and progressive. He must be willing to preach first-class sermons, and do first-class work, for second or third-class compensation. The salary should not be so much an object as the desire to be a zealous laborer in the vineyard, of the vLord. He should, be able to convince all that they are miserable sinners, without offending the wealthy pew-holders. Each sermon must be short, but complete in itself—a sermonette rather than a sermon. It must be full of old-fashioned theology in modern dress — deep, but popular, and free from the eloquence peculiar Jo newly graduated theologians. He must be young enough to be enthusiastic, and old enough to be of ripe and sound judgment. He ought to be a single man, but if married he should not.have more than two children, and his wife should be a helpmeet for society. To any one possessing the above qualifications—and no one else need apply—steady employment will be given until his health fails, of he gets too old, at the rate of six hundred dollars a year, payable in from six to twelvemonths after it is due.
