Thames Harbor Board.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Board was held at the Borough Council Chambers .last evening. Present—The Chairman, Messrs Price, Wilson, Spencer, Mennie and Bagnall.

A letter was read from J. Comes, contractor for silt works, applying for a further extension of time of two weeks to firish his contract.

The matter was referred to the Engineer to report. on, on the motion of Mr Bagnall..

SHIFTIN& OF BAILS ON BT/BKE STBEET ' . , WHABF. v ,-,..' Mr Bagnall moved thai the rails on the Goods Wharf be shifted- to the opposite side of the' wharf to enable the commencement of the filling in,of the southern side of the wharf. „

The secretary reported that there was about £80 of the Borough loan to expend. ' Mr Mennie seconded. Carried. SILT TVOKKB. It was resolved that tenders be called for extending the present silt works northward from Cornea's contract about two and a-half chains. Deposit of mullock. The matter of the deposit of mullock from the Big Pump over a more extended area was left with the Chairman to see Mr Black on the matter. The Chairman, and Messrs Price and Mennie were appointed a committee to draw up a report re the letting of the tailings allotments, and the Secretary was instructed to grant no more, permits for removal of tailings for the present. PBOPpSED ABOLITION OF FOOT TOLLS. The Chairman said... that he thought that a notice of motion should be given that at the expiration of the present contract the tolls for foot-passengers on the wharf be abolished. He thought it. a most obnoxious tax*, and in no other port in the colony were these tolls imposed There was plenty of time, how- - ever, as the present contractor had them for five months yet. ■ "■ " ■ ' ■ ' ' FINANCE.
