The state of the low level' of this mine is as follows :—The block from the Piako .boundary to a pass some ,60 feet or so to the north of the shaft hat been' Completely worked out, and was just payable.. North of this is a blocfc about 50 Tfeet long which has been driven^ through/ Bad it consequently, intact. , Beyond this is the block now being worked, wheWthe lodVjmno* tions with the Queen of the May cross* lode, which strikes toermam'lbie at an obtuse angle. From the. pass in the boundary of the unworked block above' referred to the junction of the lode ii about 12 feet thick, and it is from here : that the most of the good staff has been obtained. The total height of the block in the underlie of the reef is just iO3 feet, and about 60 feet of this has jtwep atqped oat, so it will be seen there is-Mill a-consider-able amount of stuff in ? the rich block, though whether it"is is' rioh' all at present going up remains to be proved. Beyond the junction the main lode is about four feet thick, and not jo rich as, to the south* ward. The City of London ilide runs transversely, across the main,and Cross lodes, but both of the reefs'have been picked up on the north-eastern side of the slide, and the quartz from them is, now beinn saved, and .will, be,tent to. the mill shortly. The sliuff from the 1 y«in lode looks better on this side of the slide, bat the cross lode dirt is rather poor, looking. At present there is aßont 160 feet of itop. ing in progress in this level.
