OAMARU.
Saturday.
Yesterday we were visited by a- gale such as has never been-previously knovro in these parts. It started at an ea?.?y hour in the morning, and increased :;ks force till ten o'clock, and then gradup 'y decreased till noon, at which hour it almost ceased. Windows were blown out in large numbers. A young Ean named Mantel was blown to the grou.. I, and his leg broken. Hoofs of houses were blown off and shattered to atoms, and other casualties occurred peculiar to such occasions.
