WESTPORT.

A mysterious fire occurred here early on Sunday morning, which destroyed a large building the property of Hooper and Dodson, at Nelson, next the Westport Times office. The building destroyed was occupied as the office of the Eoronui Coal Company, also the Hlloyon Quartz Mining Company, and local agency of the Curator of Intestate Estates. All the papers connected with their effairs were
destroyed. William Lloyd and Co., Secretary, locked up the building at 10.30 and asserts that all was then safe. No one lives in the building nor had it. any fireplace. The building was uninsured. The Fire Brigade and citizens saved tl (\ adjacent building, Westport Times offic-, the Westport Colliery Company's office, and Carpenter's fruit store.. The latle suffered some loss in the hurried remov 1 of effects. An enquiry will be held. T ; Eoronui Company have duplicate plans of their works in the hands of Government.
The Westport Shipping Company's barquentine Alma, from Melbourne on the tenth inst., brings Melbourne datas to the 9th.
