B. H. T. Gilbert was charged with this offence. He said he had taken a dose of laudanum, which stupified him, but he was not drunk. Constable Haslett proved the offence. He said defendant came out of a public-house drunk. Fined 10s and costs. - BREACH OF LICENSING ACT. The same defendant was charged with a breaoh of the Licensing Act, by harinf been three times previously convicted of drunkenness within the preceding three months. . v Defendant didn't think he had. He promised to become a teetotaller if he was let off this.time. Mr Stoney proved the convictions &om_ the records of Jthe Conrfc. - : Sentenced to 48 hours' imprisonment.
