All the single women per ship Hydaspes were readily engaged. Families and single men suitable foT farms also found ready employment. The Governor yesterday visited all the departments of the college, and expressed himself highly pleased with its working. Four young men fishing in a boat yesterday were caught in a squall. One named Luff was drowned, and the others were saved with much difficulty. Iv the rifle match to day, Invercargill v. Christchurch, the former team were victorious. A deputation waits on Colonel Whitmore to-morrow re the defence of Lyttelton, and also in reference to the management of the hospital. The body of the young man Luff has not yet been recovered.
